Maryam Usman Koko(maiden name Maryam Abubakar Dakingari was born in the year 1965 at Dakingari Suru Local Government Area former Sokoto State. She attended Town Primary School Dakingari from 1972 to 1978, then proceeded to Government Girls' College Sokoto from 1978 to 1983. She attended University of Sokoto now Usumanu Danfodiyo University from 1983 to 1987 where she graduated and bagged a Bachelor of Arts with a 2nd Class Honours lower division. She went for her National youths Service where she served at Sokoto Teachers College from 1987 to 1988. She took up appointment with former Sokoto State and started as a teacher and posted to Sultan Abubakar College from 1988 to 1991, with the creation of State was deployed and posted to Government Day Secondary School Birnin Kebbi, Abdullah Fodio Secondary School, where she taught English and served as Head of Department from 1991 to 2004. Hajia Maryam transferred to Secondary Schools Management Board as Executive Officer and served in various Committees of the Board. In the year 2005, She moved to Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic BirninKebbi and served as a lecturer and head of department, during which she did her Post Graduate Diploma in Education in 2007. She proceeded to Usumanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto for her Masters Degree from 2012 to 2015. In February 2023, she was appointed Registrar Kebbi State Polytechnic Dakingari by the Kebbi
