Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering . The department was established in May, 2016. The department offers National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENT

The entry requirements into National Diploma (ND) Electrical/Electronic Engineering are:

1. Five (5) "O" Level credits to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one of the subjects drawn from physical sciences (Biology, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics etc.) not more than two sittings. Candidate should also have a satisfactory score in JAMB UTME.

2. National Technical Certificate (NTC) with credits passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and one of the subjects drawn from vocational courses (Technical Engineering Drawing, Metal Work etc.) Candidates should also have a satisfactory score in JAMB UTME.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE

The Electrical/Electronic department has defined a set of program educational objectives that translates its mission into defined tasks. The Electrical Engineering program provides broad foundations to achieve the following objectives:

1. Construct simple Electrical/Electronic circuits when necessary for use in modification or as a part of major construction.

2. Erect, assemble and install simple electrical/electronic equipment

3. Carry out routine maintenance and repairs of simple electrical/electronic equipment;

4. Select and use appropriate instruments to carry out simple tests and measurements on all types of electrical/electronic installation and equipment under various conditions.

5. Operate relevant equipment and installations whenever required;

6. Prepare simple bills of quantities and specifications related to electrical/electronic engineering works.

The department is headed by Saidu Sunbo Akanji, a senior lecturer in the department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering .Saidu Sunbo Akanji received his B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from Bayero University Kano in 2003 and 2013 respectively. He is a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). He has over 12 years' post graduate experience in both telecommunication industry and academia.
